  2. What is Bright Futures? Bright Futures is a Merit Based Scholarship that covers tuition and applicable fees with Florida schools based on GPA, service hours, and test scores

  3. The four scholarships you can receive Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Florida Merit Scholars (FMS) Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV) Gold Seal CAPE Scholars Program (GSC)

  4. Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Credits 4 Math and English 3 Natural Sciences and Social Sciences 2 World Language SAT/ACT 1330/29 GPA 3.50 GPA Service Hours 100 hours

  5. Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Credits 4 Math and English 3 Natural Sciences and Social Sciences 2 World Language SAT/ACT 1210/25 GPA 3.00 GPA Service Hours 75 hours

  6. Private School Exception You won t get the 100% or 75% tuition coverage and instead receive $211 per credit hour with an additional $300 for college-related expenses on a per semester basis

  7. Testing You must test to receive the scholarship The required score can be superscored You can test until June 30th

  8. ACT Testing Dates Register Late Registration December 10th November 4th November 11th February 11th January 6th January 20th April 15th March 10th March 24th June 10th May 5th May 19th

  9. SAT Testing Dates Register Late Registration November 5th October 7th October 25th December 3rd November 3rd November 22nd March 11th February 10th February 28th May 6th April 25th April 7th June 3rd May 4th May 23rd

  10. Basic Requirements Be a Florida resident and a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen. Complete the FFAA by August 31 after high school graduation. Earn a standard Florida high school diploma, or its equivalent, from a Florida high school. Not have been found guilty of, or pled nolo contendere to, a felony charge Be accepted by, and enroll in a degree or certificate program at, an eligible Florida public or independent postsecondary institution. Be enrolled for at least six non-remedial semester credit hours (or the equivalent in quarter or clock hours) per term. Apply within five years of high school graduation to have your award reinstated.

  11. How to Apply Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application, or FFAA, no later than August 31 Submit Send Your transcipts to the Florida Department of Education for Bright Futures evaluation Your ACT/SAT score

  12. Evaluation timeline Early Final Send scores and transcipts by January 31st Send scores and transcipts during last school term Determination Get eliglibity posted by March Determination Get eliglibity by July

  13. After Receiving Bright Futures Must keep up with their grades FAS is a 3.0 and FMS is a 2.75 If you don t meet the required GPA, you have one chance to make it up If someone with a FAS gets below a 3.0, their scholarship will be reduced to an FMS If you drop or withdraw a class, you have to pay back the money in order to renew your Bright Futures the next year
