Bristol Headlines Covid 19 Latest data (5 April) published shows: 30,519 cases in Bristol since March 2020 604 deaths (16% of all deaths) 43 people in hospital beds Bristol s rate 37/100,000 population, less than England (44/100,000 population) Increased numbers of cases in school age children and adults that are the right ages to be their parents UK variant currently the dominant strain, highly transmissible new variants globally; 3rdwave? Continued vaccine efficacy being tested, rapid rollout

Care Homes No new positive in care homes last week Anticipate occasional outbreaks and illness going forward in care homes, as not everyone can or will be vaccinated Nature of pandemics that new variants develop and surges of infections, but we can deal with that PH advice remains same as lockdown eases

  4. Bristol Headlines Covid 19 Vaccinations Vaccination uptake has been high; over 183,000 (43%) to date 90% of over 60s 43% of 16 years plus 94% of over 80s 93% of over 70s 90% of over 60s 85% of over 50s

Vaccination Summary 93% of eligible residents in older adult care homes have had their 1st vaccine dose, compared with 94% across England There is excellent uptake in 70+ age ranges across Bristol -Differences in uptake are apparent in under 70 s in geographical areas, particularly in the inner city Note: inner city Bristol has a younger population, when compared to other parts of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire which may affect figures Dedicated community pop up vaccination clinics with local GP practices are well underway in inner city and east Bristol on non-NHS sites (including mosques, community centres) to increase access and improve uptake Clinics have been jointly developed and delivered with diverse community leaders and are proving effective in attracting attendance from a wide range of inner city communities.
