  1. HMP Featherstone Mark Grantham-Drug Strategy Lead Building a Recovery Pathway and Introducing Recovery Focussed Environments. Creating a Shift in Culture and Attitudes Toward Drug and Alcohol Use in Our Prison. Working in Partnership and Collaborating Across the Prison to Deliver Effective Drug Strategy.

Building a Recovery Pathway Recognising initial challenges through prisoner engagement surveys Introducing recovery focussed spaces Abstinence Drug Recovery Wing (DRW) Incentivised Substance Free Living (ISFL) unit Wing Drug Recovery ISFL Once completed time on the DRW, ISFL promotes a drug and alcohol-free environment. Where it is easier to access support than it to access drugs. This is also accessible to prisoners who have not come through the recovery pathway so long as they demonstrate the appropriate behaviour. Delivering a 6-month programme dedicated to promoting community and abstinence from drugs and alcohol. Dedicated staffing group and unit with additional features to meet the needs of the DRW community.

  3. Creating a Shift in Culture and Attitudes Toward Drug and Alcohol Use in Our Prison Promoting a shift from punitive to supportive measures for prisoners found under the influence. Embedding CHIME (Connectedness, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment) Delivering training for all staff Rehabilitative Adjudications Specific interventions for prisoners using drugs or alcohol in prison i.e. Challenge and Support Intervention Plans for Drugs. (D-CSIPs) Re-writing local drug and alcohol strategy to reflect shift in approach.

  4. Working in Partnership and Collaborating to Deliver Drug Strategy Drug Strategy is not an Island Work closely with our commissioned experts- Healthcare and Substance Misuse Services. Senior Leadership Team (SLT) support and buy in. Multi-Disciplinary approach during and after release.
