ICEBREAKER THE SUN SHINES ON Sit in a large circle facing the middle. I am going to say a statement and if the statement is true for you, stand up and switch chairs with someone else who is also moving. You cannot sit back in the chair you started in.

FEELING SAFE IN THE COMMUNITY Why it is important we feel safe in our communities.
FEELING SAFE IN THE COMMUNITY When people feel safe in the communities this results in them feeling happier and more confident this contributes and supports to their social resilience.
WHO KEEPS US SAFE? The NHS helps us when we need support with our health. The Government make rules and laws. It is responsible for protecting citizens and keeping communities safe. Police Officers tackle crime and maintain law and order in the community. Fire and Rescue Services promotes safety and keeps us safe in emergencies. Teachers and school staff keep pupils safe by following school rules. Charities may support people in different ways to ensure they feel safe. YOU! We can all do our bit to help!
SCENARIO ONE Someone who has English as an additional language is struggling to understand a sign.
SCENARIO TWO It s wintertime and it s already dark by the time a group of students need to walk home from school.
SCENARIO THREE This is a smashed bus stop there is glass everywhere on the pavement.
SCENARIO FOUR Someone online wants contact details so they can send some money for extra online credits.
STRONGER COMMUNITIES RECAP Think about what ingredients a positive, strong, and safe community needs. Examples could be: Trust Good communication Networking opportunities Embracing diversity Being inclusive Safe environments to meet in.
