Forum (Moodle) Access is provided by York This is your only mode of communication with the Instructors and primary mode of communication with other students we encourage you to form study groups. Please post as many questions as you wish, providing: 1. It is with respect to course content 2. You make an honest attempt to resolve your question prior to posting. Instructors should respond within 1 or 2 days We will confirm students responses to other students It is only as good as we jointly make it!

  8. Readings The Course Notes can be downloaded from the Level 1 webpage (you must sign into the website), and are the minimum reading you should do. Available in French as well. Business Valuation by Howard E. Johnson is also required reading it expands on information in course notes. Canada Valuation Service by Campbell is recommended reading if you want/need additional detail

Quick Quizzes/Assignments Each module has quick quizzes at the end Designed to test your technical knowledge Complete these at the end of each module Module 5 has assignments Designed to test your comprehension of the content in the course (i.e., application of technical knowledge) Do these when you complete the course

Prior exams will soon be available for you to practice with Sign in on the CICBV website and go to Level 1 page Practice under exam conditions Additional study tips/ examples will be sent out by course instructors

How to Prepare for the Exam Check forum for hints from course instructors Tutors are available for a fee (to be arranged between tutor and student) - https://cicbv.ca/tutoring/ Securexam Will be mandatory for the semester starting May 2016 Limited function Word and Excel You have the option of writing your exam electronically Software will available for download/installation Jan 2016 Ensure you read your emails from York (cicbv@yorku.ca) for deadline information Can use actual prior exams to practice software

  13. How to Prepare for the Exam Other info and stats: You need 60% to pass. Exam is 2.5 hrs long and is short/long answer (application/ comprehension based). You will choose your exam location later in the semester. Last semester: 164 total writers and 124 used Securexam (76% usage rate) Average mark was 68%; Manual writers 57%; Securexam writers 71% Overall pass rate 80%

  14. Suggested Timelines Students spend an average of 100 hrs on this course (including exam study) Today is Dec 1. Exam is March 21 - so you have approx. 16 weeks Assuming you do 5 practice exams (20 hrs 2.5 hrs writing + 1.5 hrs debrief = 4 hrs per exam X 5 exams) Assuming 15 hrs on assignments 65 hrs spread over semester 4 hrs reading per week Module 1: 5 hrs Module 2: 10 hrs Module 3: 20-25 hrs Module 4: 25-30 hrs Section 4.5 ( Case Specific Factors to Consider ) read over but don t spend too much time on it.
