  1. CAMHS EATING DISORDER TEAM Supporting young people and their families in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Publication Date: Feb 2020 Review Date: Feb 2021

  2. CAMHS Eating Disorder Team Following your assessment with us, we wanted to explain a little more about our service and how we may work together. Who we are We are a team of health professionals that specialise in the treatment of young people with eating disorders. The team includes: specialist nurses and practitioners; a psychologist; a dietitian; a family therapist; a psychiatrist; and an administrator. What we do We provide evidence-based treatment for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and related eating disorders. Research shows that a family- based approach is most effective for children and young people. The approach we use has been developed at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is recommended nationally. Our aims To provide prompt assessment and intervention for young people and families experiencing eating disorders. To restore physical health and psychological wellbeing by working together in a way that is safe. How we do it Parents of young people experiencing symptoms of anorexia nervosa will be invited to a group which is made up of four sessions. We also aim to hold on to our team values of respect, honesty, trust and hope.

  3. All families will have a link worker (who you are likely to have met at the assessment) and they will be your main point of contact until you are allocated a key worker. Your key worker will talk with you about your care and work closely with the whole family to help maintain safety and facilitate change. This may include a combination of family, parent and individual sessions. It is also important to know that your key worker will often work and think together with the rest of the team to support positive outcomes for your family. All families will have at least one appointment with the team dietitian. If a young person is medically unwell we also work closely with paediatric services.
