  2. The federal elections and social policy change Another Liberal minority government with the NDP as the most logical dance partner of Liberals as far as social policy is concerned. Since 2015, the Liberals under Justin Trudeau have borrowed from the NDP in several policy areas such as childcare and the expansion of the Canada Pension Plan. The NDP and the left-leaning Liberal Party of Justin Trudeau have a lot in common because the Liberals want to sway progressive voters. There are some similarities between the Lester B. Pearson years and now: 1965 versus 1963 elections and 2021 versus 2019 elections.

  3. Social Policy and Fiscal Issues Future of temporary pandemic-related measures; Survival of the childcare agreement between Ottawa and 8 provinces; will Alberta and Ontario emulate the other provinces? The Bloc, health care financing, and provincial demands; Federalism, long-term care, and the issue of national standards ; Dental care and pharmacare: will the NDP reshape the Liberal agenda? EI, provincial social assistance, and universal basic income; How will we be paying for all of this? Taxes are what we pay for civilized society.
