General Qualifications and Requirements Seven $5,000 scholarships available to CTE students Scholarships are funded by District Designated Funds (DDF) Students must live in one of 23 counties Study at and accredited community college or technical school; max 2 years Clubs must contribute at least $250 toward student expenses Clubs must qualify under TRF and District 5870 guidelines
General Qualifications and Requirements -continued Clubs must have begun the grant qualification process (completed Grant Management Training Seminar) in the 2025 year Clubs with an overdue report for any Foundation grant are ineligible. Student must complete scholarship application and submit required documents Scholarship applications are scored based on need, merit, previous work in area of study, career plans, past commitment to service about self No expenses incurred prior to scholarship award will be paid by grant
General Qualifications and Requirements -continued Scholarship recipients must participate in a club s service project Applicant must start or continue program in 2025-2026 year Applicant must be accepted into program of student by time of interview Return unused grant funds to District 5870 Scholars CANNOT be a Rotarian; employee/member of clubR district, Rotary entity Spouse, lineal descendent, spouse of lineal descendent, or ancestor (parent or grandparent) of aforementioned Applicant must be able to participate in Zoom interview
Timelines July July September 2024 September 2024 club develop committeefor interviewing and selecting a candidate September 15 September 15 April 1, 2025 April 1, 2025 review CTES handbook at www.rotarydistrict5870.org; identify and interview potential candidates; complete the endorsement form; review the online application Clubs with an Annual Fund Share goal of at least $100 per capita are eligible to submit up to two candidates NLT April 1, 2025 NLT April 1, 2025, clubs must request access to online CTE application CTE Chair verifies: 1. Club endorsement form was submitted; 2. with Foundation Chair CMTS training was completed, club submitted MOU and 990 form to meet Rotary grant requirements
Timelines -continued Between April 1 Between April 1- -12, 2025 12, 2025: applicant submits electronic application and supporting documents with help of club Between April 13 Between April 13- -25, 2025 25, 2025: CTES Chair establishes committee, develops questions, committee evaluates applications; students are contacted about interview times April 26, 2025 April 26, 2025: applicant interviews take place in 15-minute increments; sponsor can be present but not interact; committee makes decision on scholarship award after interviews April 27 April 27- -30, 2025 30, 2025: applicants are informed of scholarship status; scholars must complete acceptance form June 15, 2026 June 15, 2026: interim or final reports are due
Timelines -continued Disbursement of funds to the club after July 1, 2025 Student can begin study as soon as sponsoring club received funding Approved scholar can begin study and be reimbursed if term/semester begins prior to receipt of funds
Sponsor Responsibilities Before scholarship: Before scholarship: Identify potential scholars, internal interviews, help with scholarship application, identify deadlines, create student expense worksheet After Club received scholarship funds: After Club received scholarship funds: Communicate payment and reporting requirements, provide payments based on schedule or reimbursement; Arrange visits to Rotary club meetings, service projects, events
Sponsor Responsibilities - continued During scholarship period: During scholarship period: Maintain contact with student; mentor; have student share concerns/problems; keep record of expenditures; have student participate in service project Provide final report by June 15th; if scholarship is longer than 12 months, provide interim report; provide receipts for $75 or more Return unused funds to District 5870
Sponsor Responsibilities - continued After scholarship: After scholarship: help student with speaking engagement at club and district to share experiences; ensure students submits all receipts to you; encourage student s participation in Rotary Foundation activities; refer student to Rotary clubs near student s employment Allowable expenses: Allowable expenses: tuition; lab fees; books & materials; education related fees (e.g. certifications); tools and equipment Other expenses: must support course of student and must be discussed with and agreed to by the club sponsor before
