WHY I WANT TO PURSUE THIS CAREER TO HELP KEEP PEOPLE SAFE ON THE ROAD AND HIGHWAYS. I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE AN INSPECTOR. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN TRUCKS HOW THEY MOVE HOW THEY ROLL AND I AM INTERESTED IN ENGINES.
CAREER DESCRIPTION Transportation inspectors enforce safety regulations in the transportation industry by examining vehicles and their cargo. Transportation inspectors perform inspections to enforce regulations and safety standards related to cargo and vehicles. Some inspectors patrol the highways and stopping commercial vehicles for inspections. Inspectors need excellent knowledge of both vehicles and transportation regulations.
GOALS Short term goal - take automotive technology at Riverside and finish high School Long term goal - go to British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and take the Commercial Transport Mechanic Foundation CERTIFICATE

EDUCATION OF REQUIREMENTS High school diploma and Automotive Technology Post Secondary requirement - BCIT Commercial Transport Mechanic Foundation CERTIFICATE (36 week course that costs -$2,700.00) To apply for a position as a commercial motor vehicle inspector, you generally need to have a driver s licence, be in good physical condition, and pass a background check. New hires receive extensive training, which often takes place both on-the-job and in the classroom. Experience or education related to automotive mechanics, the transportation industry, or law enforcement is very helpful
SALARY OF A TRANSPORTATION INSPECTOR In general, earnings in this field can range anywhere from about $30,000 to $100,000 a year. The highest salaries are earned by those who have advanced to supervisory positions such as shift leader or coordinator.
