My compatibility I am _92_% compatible with this job. The skills this job requires are: Artistic ability. Fashion designers sketch their initial design ideas, which are used later to create prototypes. Consequently, designers must be able to express their vision for the design through illustration. Communication skills. Fashion designers often work in teams throughout the design process and therefore must be effective in communicating with their team members. For example, they may need to give instructions to sewers regarding how the garment should be constructed. Artistic ability. Fashion Designer would be great for me because I already have these skills for this career: (Insert 2-3 photos showing these skills)
I am not quite ready for this career, but I will get there! These are skills for the job I still need to learn: Computer skills This is how I will get those necessary skills: Fashion designers use technology to design. They must be able to use computer-aided design (CAD) programs and be familiar with graphics editing software.
Job Outlook In BC, the job outlook is 3 of 3 stars. Here are 2 reasons why: The salary is high and need college education.
This is what appeals to me with this career Self-employed fashion designers who are able to set up their own independent clothing lines often already have experience and a strong understanding of the industry. In some cases, a self-employed fashion designer may have a clothing line that bears their name. And I like fashion very much, so I want to have a clothing that bears my name.
These are some things I find less appealing about this career Computer Skills, I am weak on this skill, I don t know how to use computer very well.
Potential obstacles to getting this career The possible obstacles: Computer skills My plan to overcome them: learn how to use computer to design.
Potential obstacles to being successful within this career The possible obstacles: My creativity and decision- making skill My plan to overcome them: I can use them for work.
The training/education required for my career is: A university degree in fine arts or visual arts with specialization in theatre design, clothing design or exhibit design or completion of a college or art school program in theatre design, clothing design or exhibit design is required. Creative ability, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work, is required. Use of computer-aided design (CAD) software may be required.
I intend to go to cloth design for that career Where it is located (British Columbia) Program(s) you would take there Length of program(s) Certification earned (which degree/diploma/certificate/red seal/etc.) ***if it is a program that requires some base certification then additional specialization (ex: a teacher needs a Bachelor s degree THEN a Bachelor of Education), please make sure you break this down into organized sections for each program needed to obtain the career
(put 2 pictures of the post-secondary institution/ training program: their logo and main campus /what it looks like when you go there)
High school courses required Grade 11 courses: Grade 12 courses:
Additional admission requirements What is this institution known for (particular programs/sports/location/etc.)? For example, the University of Waterloo is known for its Engineering programs. The main reason you chose this institution for your training/education
Financial Plan Total cost of program(s) -> ex: if it costs $5000/year and your program is 4 years long, the total cost is $5000 x 4 = $20000 I am going to pay for my program: List the ways you will get the money needed for it (job, family, student loans, scholarships/bursaries, etc.). It must be realistic! Also keep in mind that working an entry level job can pay for university (often the most expensive choice) if you start working soon and are saving almost all of your money, then continue to work part-time through university. If you are not prepared to do this, you will need to find alternate ways of getting money.
Some related occupations: List at least 2 related occupations for your main career of choice. Include a photo for each one.
Fashion Designers are awesome!!! Explain 3 things that really excite you about this career OR List 3 fun facts about this career (include pictures with these 3 things)
REMINDERS!!!
