Spiraling Down To Death A Series Of Catastrophic Decisions
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (James 1:13 18 KJV)

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: (Matthew 15:17 19 KJV)
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:27 28 KJV)
And the man that committeth adultery with anothermans wife, even hethat committeth adultery with his neighbour s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 KJV)

Spiraling Down To Death A Series Of Catastrophic Decisions 2 Samuel 11:1-27 Vss.14-25 David decides to have Uriah killed (vss. 14- 15) Joab complies (vss. 16-21) David s response (vss. 22-25) How many men died because of David and Bathsheba s adulterous affair? Bathsheba mourned for Uriah her husband and married David (vss. 26-27)
And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeasedthe LORD. (2 Samuel 11:27 KJV) When the time of mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house and she became his wife; then she bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of the LORD. (2 Samuel 11:27 NAS95)
Spiraling Down To Death A Series Of Catastrophic Decisions The Mercy of the Lord (12:1-31) The prophet Nathan confronts David (vss.1-7) God s rebuke of David (vss. 8-9) Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. (2 Samuel 12:9 KJV) The consequences of David & Bathsheba s sin (vss. 11-14) David d house will always be divided (vss. 10- 12) The child will die (vss. 14-23)
Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. (2 Samuel 12:10 KJV) And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him. (2 Samuel 12:24 KJV) Jesse was the father of David the king. David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah. (Matthew 1:6 NAS95)
And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me. (2 Samuel 12:22 23 KJV) Psalm 51
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed isthe man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Romans 4:6 8 KJV) And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. (1 Timothy 1:14 16 KJV)
