The Nutcracker Suite Is an 1816 fairy tale about a little girl on Christmas Eve. After her family goes to sleep, the mice, her dolls, tin soldiers and other toys come to life. The nutcracker becomes a human prince. The little girl and the Nutcracker Prince travel through the woods to the land of sweets.
The Nutcracker Ballet is performed around the world during the winter season. For the first time, a Black girl will play the lead part for the New York City Ballet.
Charlotte Nebres Charlotte was 11 years old when she won the lead in the ballet as Marie. She lives in New Jersey. Her mother s family is from Trinidad and her father s is from the Philippines. Child performers are always double-cast. The other Marie and the two princes are also bi-racial Asian.
Ballet may look easy Ballet may look easy but it is considered to be the most difficult sport. Ballet dancers training is much harder than that of football or basketball players. Ballerina is Italian for dancing master. If female dancers are called Ballerinas, what would male ballet dancers be called? That s right.. Ballerinos!
