  4. ALL? (what if I only have an office?) Yes. All is GENERALLY all employees, but better to include: Everybody who gets a paycheck from Purdue or fellowship program, AND Any person who has a key to any Purdue space, AND Visiting status & UG researchers. The new-ish hierarchy tool helps with all employees. https://www.purdue.edu/hr/HR_Operations/BPM/employee_hierarchy.html.

  6. Chemical Safety requirement is for ALL, including chemical safety awareness for those who do not handle or work near chemicals.

  7. Exercise 01 Does your work area require a CHP or a HazCom program?

  8. Most/many departments have BOTH types of work areas/workers. Neither program is easier. Both require training, recordkeeping, and considerable due diligence. Written SOPs. SDS & inventory. One difference

  9. GHS the new chemical safety normal Globally Harmonized System (of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals) new hazard classes (30-ish) new numbering system acute toxicity flam liquids carcinogenicity repro toxicity skin corrosion eye damage sensitization ..... flam liq category 1 flam liq category 2 flam liq category 3 flam liq category 4 new pictograms ONE IS THE WORST! new other label elements

  10. Exercise 02 GHS/SDS practice, relevant to both CHP & HazCom training.

  12. WHAT ARE THE PPE NEEDS IN YOUR AREA? Hazard Assessment process answers that Q. is this a PPE question ? NO Supervisor is responsible for this. (And Dept...) H.A. process for offices was pretty light work. eye protection from chemical splash? hand protection from chemicals? hand protection from cuts? protections from LN2? in CO2 chamber? overall body/foot protection?

  13. PPE TRAINING Example (and useful) generic PPE training cert form. Ex 03

  14. Three requirements that apply to all, recap. OSHA and DHS related.
