History of the crop including size of production in Ha Currently 230 ha under production . Produces 750 1100 tons per annum 61% local 24% export 9% processed Western Cape 53% of production in 2016 Will expand significantly Free State 31 % Static and decreasing NW 12% and Limpopo Will expand significantly Mpumalanga 5% Will expand Expansions and current planting will be in range of 500 700 ha within the next 5 7 years. This will increase our industry to the same size as the Australian industry.

Proposed solutions Industry is willing and able to work with companies on trials / gathering of information for registration purposes. We are willing to do whatever is required in order to facilitate registrations New person will be employed at HORTGRO dedicated for cherries. Funding with major producers have been agreed for this.
