  1. THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST

  2. TEXT: Revelation 20:1-10

  3. Introduction This Chapter is the continuation from our last week study. Following the battle of Armageddon, the destruction of the enemies of God, Christ's millennial kingdom will be established (Revelation 19: 11-21). It is the coming golden age when Christ will rule with absolute authority and power on earth. The millennial kingdom will span for a 1,000-year period. This is mentioned six times in our text (Revelation 20:2,3,4,5,6,7). The word 'millennium is derived from the Latin words mille (thousand) and annum (year). Thus, the one-thousand-year reign of Christ on earth is referred to as Christ's millennial reign. We also see theThis great enemy is referred to by four names: "the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan". Special care is taken to identify the author and perpetrator of evil. "The dragon" reveals his fierceness and wickedness; "the old serpent" represents his subtlety and cunningness, which caused the Fall in the Garden of Eden; "the Devil" means the accuser of the brethren; "Satan" identifies him as the adversary. Satan, In these various forms and under these various characters has ruled and ruined the world. For one thousand years and throughout the millennial reign of Christ on earth, he will be "shut up", imprisoned in the bottomless pit.

  4. Point 1; The Resurrection of The Saints These are thrones on which triumphant saints will sit to pronounce judgment and to determine the destiny of those who rejected God's grace and mercy. This event will take place at the beginning of the one thousand years of Christ's reign. Johnsaw thrones with the privileged persons who sat on them. This does not refer to the throne of God because the word is in the plural form . With Satan imprisoned during this period, the millennial reign will be a time of unprecedented peace, unparalledprosperity, unpretentious purity uninterrupted protection, unbroken preservation and unending joy. There will also be perpetual health. The extraordinary life span of natural people during the millennium will be like that of people before the flood. Christ will physically return to the earth to put down His enemies and reign for a literal 1,000- year period. Revelation 20:4-6 Daniel 7:18, 22, 27 Christwill rule the nations with a rod of iron; then every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

  5. Point 2 Retribution of Satan This event will occur after the destruction of the Antichrist's armies and casting of the Beast... and the false Prophet... alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone" (Revelation 19: 19-21). . Satan, the dragon, will be arrested, chained and imprisoned in the bottomless pit. He will be seized by an angelic force, with power or strength greater than his (verse 1). The great enemy of the saints will be bound "when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel" (Matthew 19:28). While the apostles will be judging Israel, all Christians will be involved in judging the world Revelation 20;7-10 Isaiah 24;22 The millennium shall witness an unprecedented national and individual peace. This will bring economic boom and prosperity. There will be unspeakable joy among the people.. There will be glory, comfort, justice and full knowledge of God. In addition, there will be healing, preservation of life, complete freedom from all forms of oppression and curses

  6. Those expected to be partakers in the millennial kingdom The glorious Church (Ephesians 5:25-27), The poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3) Christian youths who are watchful and prayerful, awaiting the coming of the Lord Those who are raised and rewarded at the beginning of the one thousand years are the faithful saints of God who in fiery times had maintained unshaken fidelity to Christ and to the cause of the gospel truth

  7. Point 3: The Release of Satan. Revelations 20: 7-10 2 Thesssalonians 2: 9-12 He will again deceive the nations and excite the wicked passions of mankind to fight against the reigning Christ in the hopes of overthrowing the kingdom of God on the earth Multitudes will be deceived. The Scripture says, "the number of whom is as the sand of the sea." This shows that Satan is always the same and punishment cannot change him Though he is bound in prison for a thousand years, he is still as vile, subtle, and evil as he was before. Also, sinners will always act the same. At the end of the millennial reign, Satan will be into let loose and permitted to go as formerly over the world. After one thousand years of uninterrupted peace and prosperity, the remnant unsaved men on earth, in their depraved nature will still rebel against God, There will be a final punishment for all sinners and Satan. Will you like to suffer in eternity with Satan and the false prophets in hell fire; or reign with Christ forever?. Perfect environment and good governments cannot change anyone's heart. Only Christ's atonement can save and transform a person.

  8. QUESTIONS 1. What will life be like during Christ s Millennial Reign 2. Who is the great enemy that would be bound for 1000 years? 3. What are the components of the millennium 4. Who are those expected to partake in Christ s
