  7. o Structured learning programme leading to accreditation at an industry level standard What is an Apprenticeship? o On the job learning, developing essential knowledge, skills and behaviours o Qualifications achieved as part of day job o GCSE (Level 2) up to Masters Degree (Level 7) available o Duration ranging from 1 to 4 years o Delivered by external Training Providers and Universities o Funded by Government Levy at no cost to you or business area There are still many myths surrounding Apprenticeships

  9. Civil Service Apprenticeships are for young people/school leavers only False Civil Service Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 or over! Can you guess what age our oldest apprentice is? 69

  10. True The average age of a DWP apprentice is 30 As mentioned, there is no age limit it is never too late to learn something new in your career!

  11. Civil Service Apprentices receive lower pay False Unlike many other Apprenticeships, Civil Service Apprentices receive the same wage as any new recruit of the same grade!

  12. Funding for Apprenticeships is limited each year False Funding in England is covered by the Levy at no cost to the apprentice or the business.

  13. You cannot be undertaking any other form of education when completing an Apprenticeship True In order to qualify for Apprenticeship funding, you must not be in the process of completing any other form of accreditation.

  14. You can only undertake an Apprenticeship which is a higher level than the Qualifications you already hold False You could be learning a completely new profession by studying a different subject. For example, someone could hold a Degree in Art and Design, however wish to undertake a Level 3 (A Level equivalent) in Customer Service. Although this is at a lower level, this requires a different set of skills.

  15. Must be undertaking an Apprenticeship that is in relation to the role you are in True Apprenticeships require on the job learning, which means you have to be learning new skills which are specific to the job you are undertaking.

  16. 20% of your working hours must be towards Apprenticeship learning True In order to qualify for funding, an apprentice must evidence that there has been a minimum of 20% of their working time spent on learning towards their Apprenticeship. This is over the duration of the programme and does not necessary equate to 1 day offline per week.

  17. Civil Service Apprenticeships Eligibility

  18. o Open to anyone aged 16 or over Eligibility o Not in any other education o Employed a minimum of 18 months o Working in a role that is specific to the Apprenticeship o Able to demonstrate sufficient upskilling over duration of programme o Hold a minimum Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent) in Maths and English OR able to achieve before completion of Apprenticeship

  20. o Gives everyone the opportunity to undertake an Apprenticeship, regardless of background Social Mobility Apprenticeships o Opportunity to recognise new talent, creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce o Available to those in receipt of benefit in the following qualifying groups: - Ex offenders - Veterans/veteran spouses - Care leavers o Recruited through non-fair and open o Suitable candidates referred by Work Coach
