Procedures The Beginning of Class Students are to be seated and working on the bell ringer before the tardy bell rings. If you are not seated and ready when the tardy bell rings, you will be marked as tardy. The End of Class Students are to throw away any trash around their desk as they exit the class in an orderly fashion. You will be dismissed from class by Coach Sandlin, not by the sound of the bell. Homework Homework is due at the beginning of the next class meeting after it is assigned (i.e. the next gray or cardinal day) unless otherwise announced. Many homework assignments are distributed more than one day before the due date to exercise students time management skills.
Notebooks Notebooks will be collected after every chapter. Students are to keep up with all work, notes and assessments from class. Make-Up Work It is the student s responsibility to find out about missed assignments during an absence. Ask for make-up work as you enter the classroom. Students who are absent the day before a test are still required to take it as long as no information on the test was introduced the day before. If possible, access the lesson plan for Coach Sandlin s class from the school website to be aware of what you missed. Passes Out of Class In order to get the most out of class time, students should avoid asking for a pass out of class if possible. In the case of an emergency, a student should raise their hand and ask for a pass. The student will also sign out when leaving the class and sign in when re-entering. Students may need to come back during break to go over what they missed while they were out if they missed integral information.
Quizzes/Tests Quizzes will be given often to assess each student s mastery of content standards. These will also be great study tools for tests. Tests will be given every chapter and announced in advance (parents please check website for test dates). The first quiz is on Monday, September 14th (Gray)/ Tuesday, September 15th (Cardinal) on the rules and procedures. News Articles News article summaries will be done several weeks during the first semester. News Article summary forms will be given out on the Monday/Tuesday (depending on block schedule) of the week that they are due. News article analysis forms are usually due on Friday/ following Monday (depending on block schedule). Please make sure the original news articles are stapled to the article summary or full web link written on the news article analysis sheet. These article analyses will likely also be offered digitally. We will stop doing news articles after Christmas break and transition into map quizzes for Geography.
Digital Activities (Schoology/Schools PLP) Students will frequently engage in and/or complete activities online on Schoology. Sometimes these activities will be completed in class. Other times they may need to finish or fully complete these activities at home. If a student does not have a device or internet access consistently or at any point within the school year, they should make Mr. Sandlin aware. Mr. Sandlin can issue you a pass to come in the morning between 7:00 and 7:30 to complete activities on the chrome book and can sometimes allow the usage of chrome books in class for those students when students are engaged in other independent activities during class. In order to come in and work on a chrome book in the morning, you have to have a pass.
