Welcome To 1 MRS. KING SIXTH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES AUGUST 2020/21
Social Studies Class Procedure 1. Check the board/canvas for the agenda for the day. 2. Make sure that you have all of your materials for the day. 3. Write down your homework assignment and any other announcements, such as test or quiz date, in your agenda. (check classroom board and canvas) 4. Go to the restroom before class starts.
Social Studies Rules 1). Come to class on time! 2). Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings. 3). Be prepared with textbook, binder and pen/pencil daily! 4). Do not disrupt the class with nonsense! 5). Turn in your homework weekly! No late homework will be accepted! 6). Be prepared to work in groups! 7). Treat each other as you would want to be treated, WITH RESPECT! 8). No eating in class! You may bring water ONLY! 9.) Effort. Give 100% effort at all times. Always do your best! 3

How will my grade be calculated? Test/Projects-------------------- 40% Quizzes---------------------------- 30% Graded Assignments----------- 25% Homework--------------------------5% total ________ 100%
How many points will be deducted for turning in graded assignments late? Day 1 ------------------- minus 11 points Day 2 ------------------- minus 22 points Day 3 ------------------- minus 33 points Weekends count! A zero will be given for assignments not turned in.
What about homework? Homework must be turned in the day that it is due (FRIDAYS). Homework must be brought to class with you or submitted on canvas. You will not be able to go back and get it from your locker, another class, etc. You will Not be allowed to turn in late homework. (Unless you are absent and it must be turned in the day you return) It is the student s responsibility to make sure homework is turned in, not the teacher. Homework is graded for completion not correction The assignment must be complete. You will not receive any credit for incomplete homework.

Reading check questions 1-5 pg. 143 Write your number in the upper right hand corner of your paper Write your name/date on the first line of your paper to the right Always number your items: ex. Questions, vocabulary Always Always write the questions WORK NOT LABELED AND NUMBERED WILL BE DEDUCTED 30 POINTS
Make up Work Work must be made up within five school days of absences at the teacher s discretion. It is the student s responsibility to obtain make-up work from the teacher and to arrange time to complete any tests that were missed.
Oops I didnt bring my book to class The first time a book and binder is forgotten, a warning is given. The second and subsequent times, one hour of detention is assigned. This policy is renewed at the beginning of each nine weeks.
How to head my paper for class? Write your first and last name on the right hand of your paper Write the date underneath your name Place your number in the upper right hand corner of your paper NOTE: you will lose 5 points if your paper is missing name/date/or number
