CMIP6 Citation Service Relations (3) Data Usage in Literature (Scholix): Get data reference into reference lists of articles (Enabling FAIR data / RDA IG ESES with author guidelines; CMIP6 User Guide) Get information about data references in papers: CrossRef + Scholix API (RDA/WDS Scholix WG; http://www.scholix.org ) Add paper references to CMIP6 Citation database Update registered DataCite Metadata and XMLs on OAI Server Integrate data usage into annual data download statistics, e.g. for IPCC DDC Integration into PCMDI s publication hub and ESGF Dashboard: As part of IS-ENES3 Service Activity it is planned to make the information about data usage in literature available for PCMDI s publication hub (available for project coordination) ESGF Dashboard statistics (available for DN Managers) 6 Stockhause & Lautenschlager: Data Citation Service ESGF 2018, 05.12.2018

CMIP6 Citation Service Status (1) Citation Service in Numbers (2018-12-03) CMIP6: input4MIPs: 110 citation entries are available. 7615 citation entries are available: 615 on model/MIP granularity and 7000 on experiment granularity. 22 DataCite DOIs are registered. 44 citation managers are registered. (2 institution_ids without a cm) 44 institutions with 110 models registered (+ one open request) 292 CMIP6 experiments (all MIPs/tiers) 55 DataCite DOIs are registered. 16 citation managers are registered. 345 DataCite metadata XMLs have been registered (incl. updates). 7 Stockhause & Lautenschlager: Data Citation Service ESGF 2018, 05.12.2018

CMIP6 Citation Service Status (2) Service Components: Specifications at: http://bit.ly/1XsVOoz Virtual Machine for backbone functionality in observing phase stability of service Oracle APEX GUI is operational but was improved in terms of usability and validation Provider API was added and is operational insert experiment granularity Dissemination API is released and operational (bug fixes during 2018) ESGF DN manager API to check for data citation completeness planned Landing page with dynamic content and XML/JSON export is operational, ESGF CoG implementation is done Tool for creation of input JSON for Provider API planned; Zeb s tool is an option but needs to be checked volunteers? CMIP6 Citation Service Status (3) Technical Functionality: Insert information from CV is a semi-automated process requiring checks Registration of DataCite metadata/DOI is automated (hourly) and operational Update of DataCite metadata and XML on OAI server is automated (daily) & operational (DKRZ s OAI server: http://dm-oai.dkrz.de:8080/oai/provider , set: esgf-datacite ) Integration in furtherInfo URL landing page is done in basic way Metadata curation needs to be improved and partly automated Scholix integration about data usage in literature is in test phase exchange of OpenAire API to DataCite Event Data API planned Full implementation of RDA WGDC recommendations would require a second PID on the used data subset (integration in replication and LTA strategies required CMIP7) 9 Stockhause & Lautenschlager: Data Citation Service ESGF 2018, 05.12.2018

CMIP6 Citation Service Status (3) Documentation / User Support: CMIP6 User Guides Modelers: updated in 2018 but otherwise done Data Node Managers: under review and DN manager API missing Data Users: basic information on data citation Citation Service Webpage (cmip6cite.wdc-climate.de): central point of information, continuously updated Citation Manager Tutorial: update for Provider API part under way WebEx for Citation Managers: two done in 09/2018 CMIP6 User Support Infrastructure: due to staff resources the integration of the citation service user support into the CMIP6 support infrastructure is planned. 10 Stockhause & Lautenschlager: Data Citation Service ESGF 2018, 05.12.2018
