The theory outlines four stages: sensory-motor, pre-operational, concrete operational/early adolescence, and formal operational. Each stage corresponds to specific cognitive advancements and understanding of the world. The theory emphasizes the growth and change in individual thoughts, intelligence, perception, reasoning, and language over time.
