GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Subject Area--Credits Required English/Language Arts 4 Mathematics 4 Science 2 Biology 1 U.S. History 1 Economics 0.5 U.S. Government 0.5 Other Social Studies Elective 1 Physical Education* or JROTC 1 Computer Science 1 World Language OR Career & Technology Education Elective 1 Electives 7 Total 24 *Students must earn a 0.5 credit of Health if Physical Education is taken in a virtual format. Additional requirements may apply in Science, World Language, and Fine Arts for students planning to attend a four year college
Understanding your Transcript SC UGP GPA- Weighted GPA; used for state scholarships. 4.0 GPA- Traditional 4.0 GPA . Check your credit summary, these will match, unless there are courses taken that credit wasn t earned in. Work in progress, these are the courses that you are currently enrolled in this school year. BOTH of these can and will be used , always provide a college with your highest GPA if not specified on the application! This would be the first one, SC UGP GPA! Check to make sure your transcript is your own, Graduation Date should say Class of 2024, Diploma Type: State of SC Diploma.
CCRDo I have an Indicator? College Ready Indicators ACT Composite=20 or above. SAT Total Critical Reading + Math=1020 or above. AP test score of 3 or higher. Dual Enrollment in 6 credit hours with a final grade of C or higher. Score a C or higher in any advanced Level (A) or Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Cambridge exam. Career Ready Indicators CTE Completer with Industry Credential. Silver or Higher on the WIN/WorkKeys. ASVAB score of 31 or higher. Completed Apprenticeship, Internship, or Co-Op. Recipients of the SC Employability Credential. You can be college and/or career ready, you will also receive a chord to wear at graduation for this accomplishment!
College Application Day at MVHS Tuesday, September 26th Throughout August-December, high schools across the state will host College Application Day events to assist students with the college application process. The goal of College Application Day is to provide a forum for all South Carolina seniors to complete and fill out college applications. Many colleges will offer free application waivers to students who participate in this event. More Information Will Be Sent On REMIND!!!
Applying to CollegeWhat to look for! Early Decision Applications Common App? Common App? When selecting to complete an Early Decision application for a college, you are committing to attend that school!!! Requires more time (Academic Resumes, essays, etc.) Do not complete Early Decision if you are not 100% sure you will attend there! Apply to multiple colleges at one time
Types of College Applications Early action applications are accepted before Nov 1st. Regular decision applications are accepted until Feb 1st. Rolling admission applications are accepted afterward until space is filled.
