Junior & Senior Year Timeline Junior Year 2nd semester: Build college list Make a plan - visits & testing Update Resume & complete brag sheet Work on college essay Senior Year 1st semester: Apply to colleges starting August 1st Complete the FAFSA Senior Year 2nd semester: Apply for scholarships

  3. What is Scoir? Scoir is a college & career resource Students can build a profile on Scoir- looks like a resume Career Assessments & Personality assessments are available for students Robust career exploration resources College search & list building Parent/guardian accounts available- invited by students College application tracking & letters of recommendation requests All documents sent to colleges via Scoir

  4. Items to complete in SCOIR 1. Resume 2.Roger Bacon Brag Sheet 3.Personal Statement/ College Essay

  5. What are colleges looking at? GPA and Class Rank Rigor of academic coursework Any trends (up or down) over the course of your academic career ACT/SAT scores (unless applying Test Optional)

  6. College Admission Testing ACT, SAT, or Test Optional? Most colleges that were test-optional with admissions this year are staying test optional next year the most up to date policies will be on the individual college s websites Make sure you know how you plan to apply, and pay attention to test optional questions on applications You can take the ACT or SAT- colleges will accept either test

  7. Other Considerations Extracurricular Activities, volunteer service Special talents and/or passions you possess Essay and short response answers Letters of recommendation Interviews, interactions and demonstrated interest

  8. The Common App is the most used application! www.commonapp.org Application for over 1000 colleges including OSU, UC, XU, NKU and Miami- Set up applicant account anytime Common App rolls over every summer- you can begin applying after August 1stof your senior year

  9. Campus Visits Meet with Admission Department Take a campus tour Investigate academic programs Attend a class Talk with students and faculty Ask questions!!! The College Visit Form is available in the Student Services office and online. Submit to Assistant Principal at least one week in advance.

  10. Student Athletes NCAA Clearinghouse, NAIA Eligibility Core GPA, test scores Register at end of junior year Notify your counselor to upload transcripts

  11. College Planning Handbook These will be handed out in Flex on Thursday, Feb 20rd Contains valuable information as students prepare for college applications next year.

  12. College Planning Meetings Br.
