SMART STEEPS FOR PREVENTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE training program for counselors on preventing child sexual abuse in Greece, Turkey and Latvia The Smart Steps Practice Book will be developed. The Smart Steps Module which will address counselors and intend to provide the counselors the necessary skills, knowledge and strategies to help preventing child abuse will be developed. Children will develop the skills to protect themselves by teaching how to do it. Parents will be equipped with the new methods of domestic communication and qualified knowledge.
Project Management NEWSLETTER QUESTIONNAIRES PROJECT WEBSITE TRAINING COURSE (Training of Counselors) LOCAL TRAINING of COUNSELORS (Local ToC): The counselors who attend the Training of Trainers program in Turkey will hold a Local Training Program in their own city and country. 100 Counselors will be trained in this local ToC. This program will last for 5 days. Then all those counselors who get training program both locally and transnationally (totally 100 people) will give seminars to teachers, parents and students about skills and techniques on preventing child sexual abuse. THE SMART STEPS PRACTICE BOOK ''SMART STEPS MODULE' LOCAL SEMINAR FOR TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND THE PARENTS: In order to disseminate the results of the project to much more beneficiaries, seminars will be organized at schools.
RESPONSIBILITIES All partners have to: take part in the logo design inform the local/regional/national institutions and the media organize one partners meeting (Except for the local partner) contribute to the Smart Step module and Smart Steps Practice Book make a research and a presentation about the good examples of precaution methods of child sexual abuse in their country. organize a visit to an institution which are related to the project during the project meetings.

Rhodes Directory of the Education prepare the project's training for the counselors from Greece which will last 5 days. DEVELOPMENTS C1. Training course for Counselors ): A training course for counselors will be arranged in Antalya, Turkey. During this course each country will present a best practice of their own, counselors will exchange ideas and they will upgrade their skills in terms of preventing Child Sexual Abuse. C2. Developing Project Practice Book C3. Developing of Smart Steps module.
Participants The target groups in the project activities plans are school counselors SELECTION CRITERIA - Foreign Language Adequacy 20% - Studies in the field of Child sexual abuse 30% -The active participation in the project work done before the project application 20 % - Have experience about book writing 20% -Positive discrimination will also be given to female 10%
The role of the counselors counselors who will attend the training programme, will arrange local meetings, seminars for teachers and families as well as relevant stakeholders. In these meetings and seminars both families and teachers who work at public and private schools will be informed on recognizing the risks and signs of sexual abusing, preventive precautions against abuse and how to communicate with children on sexual abuse.
C1 in TURKEY: 5 participants from Greece & 5 participants from Latvia in total with 5 days The training of the counselors It will be held in Antalya, Turkey. At this course participants will get theoretical and practical education. For theoretical learning, they will adopt a pedagogical approach in the communication of the subject matter, recognizing signs of sexual abuse in children, starting legal procedure, detecting safety weaknesses and taking necessary precautions, informing the parents, teachers and society in general about the child sexual abuse and the smart steps to be taken against it. For practical implementations, all the participants will have the opportunity to observe good examples on child sexual abuse prevention. And at the end of the training, they will take certificate of success and attendance.

Presentation of host institution about their activities. 2.DAY presenting programme, Analysis of current situation of sexually abused children and sharing of statistical data, seminars to inform the teachers, families and relevant stakeholders on preventing child sexual abuse. 3.DAYpresent a best practice of their own, counselors will exchange ideas and they will upgrade their skills in terms of preventing Child Sexual Abuse. diagnose, legal procedure, communication techniques, prevention methodologies etc. 4.DAY Special needs children, Examination of the problems encountered in the implementation of school education, training to the local counselors against sexual abuse. Meeting with local authorities'. 5.DAY works on how decrease in the number of child sexual abuse cases in Rhodes, Antalya and Latvia. to equip the children with self-protection skills and raise parents and school teachers awareness on the subject matter. Evaluation of the activities. Giving certificates. Welfare ceremony.
C2 in Latvia: 5 participants from Turkey & 5 participants from Greece in total with 5 days The Smart Steps Practice Book The Smart Steps Practice Book will be a reference book fulfilling the current need of counselors for resource with its content. It will include an elaborate definition of child sexual abuse and the examination of different dimensions of the subject matter (diagnose, legal procedure, the methodology of taking preventive precautions etc.).

Through this training program, the participants will get acquainted with many aspects of child sexual abuse such as diagnose, legal procedure, communication techniques, prevention methodologies etc. and be qualified implementers of in-class activities which is also a component of the module. module will equip the counselors with up-to-date knowledge and a modern approach on giving children a preventive guidance against child sexual abuse.
