Mayflower Compact Mayflower landed in Massachusetts, not Virginia as planned. The charter with Virginia company was nullified. The colonists wrote The Mayflower Compact in order to establish order and govern the settlement.

Adult males (not including servants) could vote on issues. Expressed the belief that everyone was equal in the sight of God.
