  2. 10. 10. Delegate to your team. Signs, fundraising, planning, etc. TRYING TO TRYING TO DO IT ALL DO IT ALL Use your resources (Athletic Trainer, School Nurse, Strength Coach, Nutritionist, Art Department, Parents)

  3. BECAUSE WEVE ALWAYS DONE IT THAT WAY That way might not have even been the best way when you learned it. Without changing things up, you never know what s going to work better.

  4. 8. 8. OVER-FOCUS/BLINDERS ON THE DESTINATION STOP TO HAVE FUN, CREATE MEMORIES TAKE TIME TO CELEBRATE SUCCESSES KEEP THE BIG PICTURE IN MIND

  5. CONTINUE LAST YEARS TEAM This team is a new team. Create new bonds and memories. Review and reinforce skills, then move forward 2 steps back to take 4 steps forward Give departing seniors a memento (team blanket, piece of mat, etc.) Avoid and don t allow well last year Welcome the newcomers. Their success = team success

  6. MOVE TOO FAST Reinforce fundamental skills Stay at level for a minute before progressing

  7. WAIT TO HANDLE CONFLICT Watch for issues to catch them when they first appear Stay in communication with your captains to gauge the mood of the team Get administrative support before issues arise Keep administration appropriately informed Work off of facts, not assumptions; behaviors, not emotions or personal

  8. WING IT PUT RULES AND POLICIES IN WRITING. SHARE WITH ALL (ADMINISTRATION FIRST) STICK TO THE POLICIES UNLESS SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

  9. You set the standards THINK YOU THINK YOU AREN T AREN T IMPORTANT IMPORTANT You set the expectations You set the example Your team is a reflection of you

  10. DONT TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF You have to take care of you. Set parameters for your schedule. Messages after x pm will be looked at and answered the next day AND STICK TO IT!!! Learn to say no. You can include I m sorry if you wish. There is often someone else (usually the person asking) who can do what needs to be done. Use your Band or other communication tools to communicate times, uniforms, schedules, etc. and direct people to them.
