  4. Short-Story Short-story is a short work of prose fiction. Edgar Allan Poe defines short story as a narrative which can be read at one sitting of half an hour to two hours, and limited to a certain unique or single effect to which every detail is subordinate (cited in Abrams, Harpham, 2015, p. 364)

  5. The difference between short-story and novel In the novel, there s a description of social milieu. There are fully developed characters as well as minor characters in the novel, while there s a limited number of the characters in the short-story.
