  2. ACL overview: GCSE English delivered in 9 centres across Essex to approximately 250 learners aged over 19. 16/17 2.5hrs a week for 32 weeks 17/18 3hours for 30 weeks Fast Track GCSE Jan start for June exam 5hrs a week for 18 weeks

  3. Getting Started All learners are assessed using BKSB: FS must achieve L1/L2 GCSE DA must achieve 45% Writing use AQA style questions must have basic SPaG in place. If not, offer either FS or Prepare for GCSE (online course) and re-assess

  4. Planning Scheme of work planned as a team Paper 1 term one mock week 10 Paper 2 term two mock week 11 Revision term three Peer observations within the team Moderation of mocks

  5. Paper 1 Question 1 Top tips write in full sentences examiners report says: No requirement for students to write in sentences but those who did tended to produce more relevant and credit worthy answers

  6. Paper 1 Question 2 It is better to zoom in on key words to find the writer s intention then to list sophisticated language features. The carriage swayed like a drunk man. Zoom in on the word drunk what does this mean the writer wants us to think?

  7. Paper 1 Question 3 Structure what is the structure? Why is the text structured like that? Picture prompts to help build an order/ structure Film clips and text look at from a director s point of view
