Clinical Practice II/Internship II Placement Process Complete Student Teaching applications at the beginning of your CPI Experience : STEP Application Qualtrics Application for the semester you will be teaching Upload documents to Livetext Your Teaching Resume Copy Unofficial Transcript (get from PAWS) Copy Mantoux Test (TB) Copy Criminal History Copy Substitute Certificate Vaccination Card For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu

Approval Prerequisites Your Program Coordinator will check to ensure that you: Meet all program requirements for Student Teaching Taken & Passed the Praxis Core Affirm that you have either attempted the Praxis Content or will prior to your placement. Have GPA of 3.0* Students with a GPA between 2.75 & 2.99 must submit a GPA signed waiver For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu

  4. STEP Orientation Session Credentials/Clearances Requirements vary by district, most include: TB or Mantoux Test: No earlier than (March) Fall or - (August) Spring Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher. Criminal History (fingerprints) transferred to them. Prints must be coded as a Substitute Teacher to transfer prints. Due to COVID-All students must have a Substitute Certification Others May Require: Interview Child Abuse Check, FBI Criminal Background check Confidentiality Agreement, IT confidentiality agreement Physical or Health Form, Vaccination Card and/or Form FYI: Some districts will not accept TB results older than 6 months.   5. Things to Remember If your residency during student teaching changes, please email STEP@tcnj.edu with the new address. Only put your TCNJ email address on your resume Students will be placed in district that is within 35 miles of TCNJ* Students will not be placed in their home district. All students will be placed in a variety of settings Urban, Suburban or Rural to ensure diverse teaching experiences. While you may have a delayed start date, there is a 100% placement rate.** For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu

  7. Once a Placement is Found: It is your responsibility to: Post a copy of all your clearance documents to LiveText. Remember: If you don t share it with the STEP Office, I will not be able to see what you see. Read your TCNJ emails. Your placement email will explain which clearances your district requires you to send. Respond to contacts from districts who want to arrange an interview between you and the teacher. Do your best to return calls promptly, Create a professional message, and Clean out your VM box. You start the first day of classes or when told.
