Brief Note on Computer Education under ICT Project Punjab Information & Communication Technology Education Society (PICTES)
About ICT Society ICT Project is managed by the society namely Punjab ICT Education Society (PICTES) especially constituted for the purpose to impart Computer Education as a compulsory subject in upper primary classes (6th to 12th) in all Govt. Schools of the State. For this purpose, computer labs have been established in Phased manner in 6134 Govt. schools (Upper Primary Schools) and 346 Govt. Aided (High & Senior Secondary) Schools. Computer hardware including UPSs, software and LAN are installed in these labs. Broadband internet connectivity has been provided to all schools. Monitoring/Functioning and Staff For monitoring Quality of education and better performance of hardware installed under this project, DPC (RMSA) has given the charged to look after the project. Inspite of this, 5 Project Coordinators and Assistant Manager (Finance) have also been appointed at circle level. There are five circles under ICT in the State and a circle comprises of four/five districts. One Accountant and One Data Entry operator is also working in each district for smooth functioning of the Project. For teaching Computer Science subject, 6776 computer faculty are working at present. As per the policy of the Punjab Govt. The services of 6766 computer faculty have been regularized under PICTES.
Leaves permissible to Computer Faculty S.no. Nature of leaves Sanctioning Authority No. of Leaves Female Employees : 20 days per year Male Employees : (a)10 days per year upto service of 10 yrs. (b) 15 days per year upto service of 10-20 yrs. (c) 20 days after completion of service of 20 yrs. 1 CASUAL LEAVE SCHOOL HEAD 2 MATERNITY LEAVE DEO(SE) 180 DAYS(with pay) For TEACHING STAFF : 8 days/year, the leave will lapse at the end of every year and not entitled for encashment. For NON TEACHING STAFF : Leave is earned at the rate of 1/24th of the period spent on duty, during the first 10 years of service, 1/18th of the period spent on duty, during the next 10 years of service, 1/12th of the period spent on duty thereafter. The leave will lapse at the end of every year and not entitled for encashment. 3 EARNED LEAVE SCHOOL HEAD 15 Days/year. The leave may be commuted on medical ground maximum 240 days during entire service and in such cases double the number of HPL will be debited to the HPL accounts. 4 HALF PAY LEAVE SCHOOL HEAD Upto 2 months : DEO(SE) Above 2 months: DGSE 5 WITHOUT PAY LEAVE DEO(SE)/ DGSE 6 EX-INDIA LEAVE DGSE Without pay as per approval of Sanctioning Authority i.e. DGSE LEAVE FOR HIGHER STUDY 7 DDO LEAVE FOR EXAM DAYS ONLY
Centrally Sponsored Schemes ICT@Schools Scheme: MHRD, GOI provides financial assistance for setting up of computer labs in approved High and Senior Secondary Schools with minimum 10 computers per lab. The financial assistance for recurring expenditure was provided @ Rs 2.70 lakhs per school and for non recurring expenditure @ Rs 6.40 lakhs per school in the sharing pattern of 60:40 (Centre & State) for 5 years. Centrally Sponsored Schemes Computer Aided Learning (CAL) is the project of SSAA, is implemented by ICT project. To teach the students of Class VI to VIII through multimedia techniques, multimedia devices have been provided to schools to show the Multimedia Educational Content. CDs/DVDs on Science/Maths have also be developed and distributed to schools.
