Three Strategic Themes Open For Applications: Children Surviving and Thriving Global Health Matters Fighting for Gender Justice
Fighting for Gender Justice: We want all women and girls, both collectively and individually, to have equal power and agency in decision making at all levels We want the elimination of violence and discrimination based on gender and sexuality As a result of the Comic Relief investment we wish to see a contribution to making change in one or more of the following areas:
Increased number of women and girls who are safe, healthy, educated and able to be independent with control over their lives Improved equality for women, girls and the LBTQI+ community and initiatives that help people affected by domestic violence, abuse or exploitation due to their gender. Increase in the the evidence of what works in developing women-led movements for social change, and lead in developing and modelling best practice
Stronger feminist organisations which have the resilience and capabilities to drive change Positive public attitudes and improved understanding about the influence of gender norms on choices and life outcomes A diverse range of women s rights organisations to fight against systems which perpetuate the injustices they encounter in their daily lives.
Fighting For Gender Justice Funding Available For This Phase of Applications 120,000(Max award size 5k)
In your application we will look for - High Level of Evidence of Consultation with the beneficiaries of the project who have the lived experience of the issue is expected and MUST lead to: A project proposal which addresses the issue(s) clearly identified by the beneficiaries The beneficiaries being at the heart of delivery, monitoring and evaluation - shaping by being involved - telling you what worked, what didn t, why and what should change Clear demonstration as to how the proposal will make contribution to Shifting the Power This MUST NOT be an application shaped by group who feel that just because they have been doing this for a long while they know what is best for people

Project Budget and Consent
Guidance -Section 2 The Project (questions are the same for each programme area) Name of Project Date of Project Commencement - Date of Project Completion Area of Benefit Local Council Area - This is drop-down menu What theme(s) will the project address? What are the particular issue(s) being faced by those with the lived experience in relation to the theme(s) indicated?
Guidance -Section 2 The Project - (Continued) How were those with the lived experience involved in highlighting the issue(s) to the group? (please give details on how, when, and where they have been consulted) What is the impact of the issues on the lives of those you are seeking to support? What did those with the lived experience tell the group were things that could happen which would make a contribution in addressing the issue(s)? How are these reflected in this proposal? (Please detail what the group wishes to do with the grant if the application is successful) Please explain how your project meets the fund criteria as specified in the fund guidance notes.

How to Apply? Via Community Foundation Website: www.communityfoundationni.org Grant Must Be Spent within 18 months from date of Grant Aid Agreement Monitoring Form To Be Returned Within 8 weeks of Project End and accompanied With Annual Accounts Please note that you can t have two live grants for the same programme
Eligibility Criteria Check Please note that if any of the group s objectives includes advancement of religion then group is not eligible for a grant award Must Be Constituted Community/Voluntary Organisations (registered charity) Annual Income less than 250,000 Application to be accompanied by: Governing document Recent annual accounts or income and expenditure Child safeguarding policy (if applicable to project) Adults safeguarding policy (if applicable to project) Equality policy If any of the above are missing when application is submitted, application will not proceed to assessment.
Safeguarding Policies & Procedures: Things to Consider - Recommendations from Comic Relief Policy: The policy demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding People: Safeguards are in place to ensure staff & volunteers do not represent a risk to children or vulnerable adults Procedures: Processes are in place to reduce risk and respond to safeguarding concerns Accountability: Safeguarding is integrated into the governance of the organisation
Ineligible Expenditure Capital equipment; Activities which evangelise (the practice or spreading of religious beliefs) or proselytise (the practice of trying to convert people to own belief or religious views); Adopting a partisan political stance or activities which are party political. Community Foundation and Comic Relief will not support organisations that advocate violence to campaign or influence public opinion; One off conferences or workshops where these are not part of longer-term projects or work; General appeals, individual and group sponsorship, market appeals, proposals for bursaries from individuals or the proposal from individuals for the funding of study or the attainment of qualifications;
What cannot be funded: (continued) Work where the long-term institutional care of children or young people is a preferred way of working over the longer-term (e.g. setting up or running orphanages). Where short-term temporary institutional care is used as part of an intervention to support children and young people, applicants will need to demonstrate how the work that they propose seeks to develop and implement community- based alternatives; The provision of services that are the primary and legal responsibility of the state. We recognise that this is a grey area, and in some exceptional circumstances may fund the provision of some services internationally. However this will only be a result of proactive approaches.
