Project Overview 1. Using hip-hop as a mechanism for communication and pedagogy, this activity will allow you to make connections between your personal identity and the things you represent and advocate for. Your presentation should not exceed one minute. Worth 10% of your grade. The assignment is worth 100 points. 2. 3. Assignment was made due to Manting :)
Project Details 1. 10 bars/lines minimum. 16 bars/lines are the maximum 2. Due date: First week back from Spring break. 3. Submit lyrics to Tray with explanation of why you chose those lyrics and how they connect to you 4. 5. Be prepared to turn in the explanation paper on the day you perform. Printed, double spaced. Perform your piece first week back from Spring break. 6. Keep it clean, try to avoid profanity.
Project Ideas 1. When starting, ask yourself. a. What do you represent? Family? Friends? Siblings? Culture? Ethnicity? Education? Religion? Your History? b. How do I identify myself? Sex? Gender? Ideology? Beliefs? Ethics? Values? Morals? Pet peeves? c. What am I passionate about? Hobbies? Sports? Music? Art? Profession? Skills? 2. Before You Perform 1. Say represent represent twice, for a total of four times. 2. When the performer says represent represent. a. Audience: Clap four times in succession 3. Once this is done, begin your performance.
I represent the silent ones. I represent the ones that never won. They expected me to fail. But nah. I ain t like that. I m tough as nails, smooth like ale, and cold like hail. They try to color my future like the Mekong. While trying to make us forget about the napalms. But don t worry, it won t take long. Til I m at the top. Because I m never going to stop, until I drop. That s because I represent myself, my legacy, and the Hmong.
