CONSECRATION OF THE PRIESTS Youth Search the Scriptures Lesson 67
Memory Verse And ye shall not go out of the door of the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he consecrate you Leviticus 8:33
Introduction Text: Leviticus 8:1-36; 9:1-24 Today s study centers on the consecration of the priests: Aaron and his sons were consecrated as priests to God by Moses. Their services required careful preparations for God s acceptance. Consecration means to set something or someone apart for a sacred or holy use. Every born-again youth today is a priest (Revelation 1:6) and should be consecrated to God (Romans 12:1,2).
Subtopics 1. Preparation for the Consecration 2. The Process of the Consecration 3. The Purpose and Privilege of their Consecration
Preparation for the Consecration (Leviticus 8:1-13; Joshua 3:5; Isaiah 1: 16; 61:10; 52:11, Ephesians 6:14) Moses promptly obeyed God s instruction to consecrate Aaron and his sons Christian youths must promptly obey God s instructions to them (Leviticus 8:13) The preparations included: Washing- symbolising the washing from sin (Isaiah 1:16) Clothing- symbolising the garments of righteousness (Isaiah 61:10) Anointing- symbolising the Holy Spirit s power on sanctified servants (Acts 1:8)
Four aspects of the process were: Animal Sacrifice 7 days Waiting Burnt offering The Process of the Consecration (Leviticus 8:14-36; Psalm 23:6; Romans 12:1,2; Hebrews 10:3-5; 9:11-14; Revelation 1:5) Wave offering Today, we do not need animal sacrifices because Jesus died for our sins (Matthew 26:28) Animal sacrifices cannot remove sins (Hebrews 10:3- 5) Christian youths should delight in going to fellowship for worship, prayers and study of the word (Psalms 23:6)
The Purpose and Privilege of their Consecration (Leviticus 9:1-24; 2 Timothy 2:19-21; John12:23-26; 2 Chronicles 15:7) The consecration of the priests came with responsibilities of service in the tabernacle namely: Speaking the word of God Making atonements Making animal sacrifices Praying for the people Any other assigned service(s) by God God is calling all youths to salvation, sanctification and service (2 Timothy 2:21) Some areas of service for born again youths include the choir, cleaning of the church, evangelism & leading youth fellowships Blessings of serving God include divine favour, fruitfulness, fulfillment and a place in heaven (John 12:26) Are you ready to consecrate yourselves to God and His service? (1Chronicles 29:5)
Questions 1: What is consecration? 2: How can a Christian youth be consecrated to the Lord, today? 3: Is animal sacrifice still relevant to Christians in this dispensation? 4: Mention some services Christian youths can render unto God. 5: Mention some blessings we will receive when we serve God.
