Constructive Resettlement Consortium Approach - Key Achievements & Future Plans
This project led by Jo Sykes and Trevor Woodhouse focuses on improving partnership processes, sharing best practices, and supporting youth in custody to shift their identity positively. The Consortium has made significant strides in accommodation standards, training, and research reports to enhance resettlement efforts. Looking ahead to 2020/2021, the Pathfinder Project aims to develop resources and training materials for effective youth offender transitions.

Consortium Background S&WYRC established in September 2014 Gap Analysis Partnership Development and Relationships Operational & Strategic - involvement & influence Data Collection Annual analysis is used to identify consortia priorities and work plan (includes National Evidence, Local Views, Case Data) Provide local focus for resettlement issues Developed a relationship with an Academic Partner - University of Bedfordshire which resulted in a bid to the Nuffield Foundation

Pathfinder Plan (agreed Autumn 2019) Improve partnership processes and communication Share existing practice and advocate a partnership approach to resettlement Work with professionals to support children to develop a pro-social identity
Pathfinder Delivery - 2020/2021 Develop resources for YOTs to support the identity shift of young people leaving custody (resource package) Work with partners to implement Making Resettlement Constructive (training sessions/briefings/training materials/guidance documents) Identify and work with partner YOTs on the work around identity shift Work with stakeholders including the YJB to develop new ways of working with staff and children to bring about identity shift and to develop new ways of measuring this Research existing practice and identify any best practice examples Work with the custodial estate to identify how the Pathfinder can support Constructive Resettlement Provide Resettlement Consortium Support Develop an Exit Plan

Pathfinder Next Steps Further training delivery and development with a wide range of partners including YOTs, YCS, Police, Courts, Voluntary Sector, PCCs, DWP, Education, Accommodation providers etc Evaluation Work with VRUs Provide support to any YOTs or services supporting resettlement including emerging Resettlement Consortiums and Partnerships Continue to advocate the benefits of a partnership approach to resettlement
