  2. Algebra I This is a high school credit course Prerequisites: Students must earn an 85 or higher on the Orleans-Hanna assessment and an 85 or higher in their 7thgrade math course (S1). Data will be printed on students course selection sheet. The intention of this course is to prepare students for AP level math courses. Appeals: If you wish to appeal this placement, please attach a note to your course selection sheet and return to Ms. Juniel. Decisions on appeals will be made after year-end grade averages and STAAR scores are available.

  3. ELECTIVES Number elective choices in order of preference: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on your course selection sheet. Please indicate your electives for 6th& 7thgrade. Students may not get their 1stchoice due to availability. Electives are for a FULL YEAR ! FULL YEAR !

  6. ELECTIVES Teen Leadership: Teen Leadership: Course Number: LS 1433 Selection based on a screening process. This course is a leadership class based on M. I. Flippen s Capturing Kids Hearts. The course focuses on leadership skills, conflict resolution, tolerance and communication skills.

  7. ELECTIVES SPANISH 1B & SPANISH 1 AD*: These are high school credit courses Students who have successfully completed Spanish 1A in the 7thgrade must complete Spanish 1B in the 8thgrade in order to receive credit for Spanish I in high school Students may take Spanish 1 AD in the 8thgrade Students must take level II of the same language in 9thgrade

  8. ELECTIVES SPANISH I - AD : Grades in 6thand 7thgrade must be strong in order to have a chance of being successful. Spanish I is available in 8thgrade where students can earn 1 high school credit in 1 year.

  9. ELECTIVES Spanish for Spanish Speakers : Students who are native speakers of Spanish may receive credit for Spanish I & II upon successful completion of this course in one year. The main objective of this course is to help students to continue to develop their heritage and linguistic and cultural skills in order to become fully bilingual and biliterate .

  12. Important Course Selection Info When selecting electives, DON'T FORGET .. 1. Top 2 elective choices go under (1st & 2nd choice) "Requested Courses" 2. Next 3 elective choices (3, 4, & 5) go under "Request Alternates" 3. Verify that selected course requests show a (R R) and the alternate course request show as (numbers in the priority column 1st, 2nd, 3rd 1st, 2nd, 3rd)

  14. Important Dates to Remember February 8th-9th Students receive Course Selection Sheets from TX History teachers. February 9th 15th Students and parents complete and sign Course Request Sheet. February 16th-19th- Students in Computer Lab via TX History classes for assistance with completing course selection process. Course Request Worksheets are collected at this time.
