ASA President Kathy Ensor (2022) Initiatives Initiative #1: Advance the ASA s data science footprint. Data science methods integrate the best of statistical thinking and practice. Many universities are already investing in their statistics departments to build top data science programs. ASA has an opportunity to work with university leaders to articulate the value statisticians bring to their strategic leadership table. ASA Leadership Report
ASA President Kathy Ensor (2022) Initiatives (continued) Initiative #2: Growing Urban Analytics Urban Analytics combines statistics, local governments, and data for good. Our urban environments generate massive amounts of geo-referenced data, allowing us to draw insights on how we work, live, play, and learn within our communities, Urban analytics requires our best statistical science coupled with a willingness to engage local governments, NGOs, and communities to improve quality of life. Ensor would like to see the ASA foster collaborations between ASA members and their local communities. ASA Leadership Report

Be a part of the COCGB! Every year after JSM, the nomination committee meets to determine who will be on the ballot for the elections. The slates are typically due to the ASA in September/October. If you are interested, PLEASE consider reaching out to one of us (your Vice Chair, or any of the Governing Board listed on the first slide). Roles and responsibilities are provided here. For the elections in March 2022, we are looking for candidates to run for VC of districts 5 and 6, a Board Rep from districts 5 and 6, and a chair elect. All positions are 3 years (2023-2025). Next year, we will be looking for folks from districts 1 and 2 to run in March of 2023 (service in 2024-2026). And the following year, we are back to districts 3 and 4 (service in 2025-2027). If you want to be involved, but not willing to make that commitment, we have appointed positions (secretary/Communications/nominating committee). Additionally, if you or someone you know are interested in serving as ASA President or Vice President, we can forward that information to the Nominating Committee. Council of Chapters GB Report
