Amid conflicting beliefs about recent elections, both Republicans and Democrats are pushing for changes in voting rules. Republicans are working to make voting more difficult, citing concerns such as fraud and illegal voting practices. This has led to the introduction of numerous bills aimed at restricting mail-in voting, limiting drop boxes, and imposing voter ID requirements. The division and distrust in election results highlight the urgent need for a unified and modernized election system that all parties and voters can accept.

  1. Natural Sciences Grade 7 Term 3: Energy and Change Sources of energy

  2. Topic 1 Sources of energy Non - Renewable energy Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  3. Non Non renewable sources of renewable sources of energy energy Do you remember what non-renewable sources of energy are? Think! Think! Think! Examples of Non-renewable sources of Energy Fossil fuels Oil, coal and natural gas are the most common fossil fuels. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  4. Non Non renewable sources of renewable sources of energy energy Where do fossil fuels come from? Fossil fuels come from fossils which are the remains of plants and animals that died over millions of years ago. We rely heavily on fossil fuels, but these fuels are running out. Fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide when they burn and this contributes to Global Warming. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  5. Non Non renewable sources of energy renewable sources of energy 1. Coal Coal is used to make electricity, petrol and other fuels. Eskom and Sasol use over 80% of our coal. Eskom generates 98% of South Africa s electricity. Coal is made of the remains of ancient plants and trees that grew in the moist and warm climates of swampy jungles millions of years ago. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  6. Non Non renewable sources of energy renewable sources of energy 2. Oil It is used to make other substances such as paraffin, diesel and petrol. Oil refinery changes crude oil to our most modern sources of energy that is used on cars and trucks [diesel & petrol] , aeroplanes [jet fuel], ships [fuel oil], and for tarring roads [asphalt]. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  7. Non Non renewable sources of energy renewable sources of energy It is also used to make plastic products. South Africa does not have enough of its own oil, therefore we have to buy oil from other countries. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  8. Non Non renewable sources of energy renewable sources of energy 3. Natural Gas Natural Gas reserves have been discovered under the sea near Mossel Bay. PetrolSA converts the gas into synthetic fuel oil and petrol. Therefore gas may be used more widely in the future and must be stored in special tanks under pressure. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  9. Non Non renewable sources of energy renewable sources of energy Nuclear power is not a fossil fuel. It comes from Uranium, a metal mined in South Africa and it is also a nuclear fuel. A nuclear power station produces heat energy when atoms are split in substances like uranium. South Africa only has one Nuclear power station with two nuclear reactors in the Western Cape called the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station. It is located 30 km north of Cape Town. It was very expensive to build. Natural Sciences - Grade 7

  10. Non Non renewable sources of energy renewable sources of energy It generates just more than 5% of our electricity by using nuclear energy. Some people believe that it is a very dangerous source of energy due to the radioactive waste that it produces. Natural Sciences - Grade 7
