Things to Consider Using the SMART goal setting principles Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Time Scale
Drafting the Plan Make a list of different ambitions you as a learner would like to achieve Choose the ambition which is most important and achievable in 12 months Draft your plan, to break down the long term goals into smaller steps: Short term goals, and action points
Re-visiting the Plan Look over the plan again a few days after the draft has been produced Assess whether you still think it is realistic and achievable Show the draft to someone else to get their input, this could be a friend, school teacher, coach or parent
Writing the Plan Show the plan to the Leadership Academy Captain Discuss with them the goals and gain their approval that the plan is realistic Write your plan on the development planning sheet and complete Bronze MY Future section
Using the Plan Once the time scales are set put them on your calendar Record the progress as you complete each step Add to and amend the plan as necessary: It s your plan so you can change as and when its needed
