  1. An Extravagant Victorian Feast http://cookit.e2bn.org/historycookbook/

  2. Step 1 First, we decided what time in history we wanted to base our menu on. There are a number of choices including Pre-historic, Saxons and Vikings, Tudors, Stuarts, Georgians, World War 2 and Postwar/modern. We decided to base our menu around the Victorian times. We carried out some research to discover the types of menus that existed during the Victorian times. We decided to base our menu around a Victorian extravagant feast that consisted of 2 courses each with 10 options.

  3. Step 2 This screen shot shows how the 10 various main course dishes were selected. It is important to ensure the children do not select dishes at random but are basing their decisions on the popular food of the time. We decided to select dishes such as casseroles, fish dishes and expensive meat to reflect the Extravagant dinner parties that were held during the Victorian times.

  4. Step 3 We carried out the same process for the 10 desert options, again ensuring that they were consistent with the typical food eaten during the Victorian times. We selected dishes such as Porridge and Crumbles.

  5. The Finished Piece The finished menu can be printed off straight from the CookIt website and is purposely designed to reflect the times. The finished pieces can be used for display purposes or collaborated together to produce a Victorian themed Cook/Recipe book. I also feel it may be a good idea to compare the different menus across the times, finishing with a modern day menu.
