Creating Careers: A Step Ahead Preparation for work and encounters with employers Health and Care Programme
Recognised by Health Education England & partners Supporting students to build the skills needed to progress into a healthcare career either through employment, apprenticeship or further study Consolidate students knowledge of what is expected of them both academically and practically Raise students awareness of the expectations within a healthcare career
Primarily an online project Students will complete: A skills audit to enable them to reflect on how they can get the most from the course Mandatory careers interview with a member of Shaping Futures staff Three core live webinars exploring topic such as communication, health and care role skills, academic and employment expectations A minimum of 8 additional activities, to be completed independently in an academic year. Students who successfully complete the project will be invited to take part in person health and care experiences, site visits, providing them with valuable experience for future applications
Examples of additional activities may include: Completing the NHS Values Test Completing quizzes based on previous Creating Careers: Live with Health Education England webinars, now available on demand Attending a university or college open day Taking part in a mock interview with a member of health and care staff, with direct feedback provided. Invited or open invitation to attend various health and care organsiations. Access VR/AR/Simulation events bespoke to this programme and your area.
