How to Create an Audio Commentary Write a Script Record your script
How to write a script? Imagine that you are talking to a friend to convince them of your argument. Turn your essay into a 3-4 minute speech. Capture the key points of your essay. 8
Suggestions and Tips Remember: You should think of the audience when writing the script. Start with a hook to grab the attention of the audience. Provide personal background and state the argument clearly. Capture the key points of each body paragraph in 2 or 3 sentences, without mentioning the names of authors and titles of articles. Conclude with a statement that leaves a powerful impression on the audience. 9
In-Class Task & Practice Go to Blackboard and complete the script. When you finish, practice by sharing in groups. Your group members should give you suggestions on how to improve the script to make it more persuasive. Note: if reading the script takes more than 3 minutes, then it is long. You need to shorten it. 10
Homework Record your script and upload it to Blackboard. Before recording your script, I recommend practicing it many times. Aim for 3 minutes. Make sure your voice is clear. You can use your phone, laptop, or go to the music lab at Gorgas library to record your voice-over. 11
