Hebrews 12:1-2 1Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Evangel Christian Fellowship
Hebrews 12:18-24 18For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, 19and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore. 20(For they could not endure what was commanded: And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow. 21And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, I am exceedingly afraid and trembling. ) Evangel Christian Fellowship
22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. Evangel Christian Fellowship
1) Mt Zion Mount Zion is the spiritual state of the church Entrance into His Presence (Heb 10:19-20) Sinai = Laws + Works Zion = Grace + Faith Shift from Flesh + Work to Spirit + Grace Mountain speaks of Government Jesus rules and reigns as King of kings in every areas of life. 2) City of the Living God The dwelling place of God (Ephesians 2:19- 2; 1 Pet 2:5). Elijah operated from God s Presence (1 Kings 17:1) Jacob didn t know that God was there (Gen 28:10-17) He came to His own, His own received Him not (John 1:1-14) Burning Bush Experience (Exodus 3:1-5) When 2 or 3 gather (Matt 18:20) Evangel Christian Fellowship
1 Kings 17:1 1And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word. Evangel Christian Fellowship
Genesis 28:16-17 16Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it. 17And he was afraid and said, How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven! Evangel Christian Fellowship
Exodus 3:1-5 1Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3Then Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn. Evangel Christian Fellowship
4So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here I am. 5Then He said, Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. Evangel Christian Fellowship
Matthew 18:20 20For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. Evangel Christian Fellowship
3) Heavenly Jerusalem It s the one above, not below It s from the free woman (Sarah) and not of bondwoman (Haggar) (Galatians 4:21-31). Blessed with all spiritual blessings My position in Christ Seated with Him in the heavenly places (Eph 2:6) Set your mind on spiritual things (Rom 8:5) Set your mind on and seek things above (Col 3:1-2) Value the natural or spiritual? Priorities? Problem vs solution? Look up Evangel Christian Fellowship
Galatians 4:11-21 21Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? 22For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar Evangel Christian Fellowship
25for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children 26but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. 27For it is written: Rejoice, O barren, You who do not bear! Break forth and shout, You who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children Than she who has a husband. Evangel Christian Fellowship
28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise.29But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. 30Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. 31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free. Evangel Christian Fellowship
Old Law Ishmael Sarah Free woman According to the flesh Mount Sinai Jerusalem below (earthly) Free Shall not be heirs New Grace Isaac Haggar Bond woman According to the Spirit (Promise) Mt Zion Jerusalem above (heavenly) Bondage heirs As Isaac we are children of promise. Its the New Jerusalem, not the old Stop looking back, the past, failures, disappointments, offenses Move forward Our model/pattern always comes from above Evangel Christian Fellowship
