Example DELEGATION: Argentina GENERAL ASSEMBLY QUESTION OF: Equality in child custody cases Argentina supports steps towards creating equality in child custody and the General Assembly s goal to ensure all children receive a stable and loving foundation to their lives. Argentina legally includes both parents as having equal right to guardianship over their children. This includes the responsibility of care and upbringing. Argentina supports the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and believes that all the child s rights and wishes, above all, should be considered. By granting equality in custody, Argentina believes that they are upholding the will and efforts of the UN Women s Committee as this allows more women to move into the workplace and empower themselves, rather than being automatically placed into the role of primary caregiver. It is our deepest interest to ensure that all delegations of the General Assembly also consider equality between parents over the best interest rule and look forward to discussing this further.
