PSALM 27:4 One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I maydwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.
One thing I have desired of the LORD..........
Davids ONE desire was to KNOW GOD 1. To know God s presence 2. To know God s attributes 3.To know God s will
1. To Know Gods Presence Omnipresence of God Psalm 139:7-10 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in[c]hell, behold, You are there. 9If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.
Manifest Presence of God Acts 3:19 19Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
John 14:21 21He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.
Exodus 33:11 11So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.
Psalm 107:9 For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Psalm 63:1-2 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. 2So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.
Psalm 84:1-3 How lovely[b]is Your tabernacle, O LORD of hosts! 2My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
3Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God. 4Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah
John 14:21-23 21He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and[a]manifest Myself to him. 22Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world? 23Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
1 Kings 19:11-12 11Then He said, Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD. And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake;12and after the earthquake a fire, butthe LORD was not in the fire; and after the firea still small voice.
Thou, O Christ, art all I want, More than all in Thee I find; Raise the fallen, cheer the faint, Heal the sick, and lead the blind.
If we have the presence of God we have everything but if we have everything but the presence of God, we have nothing.
2. To Know Gods attributes .......To behold the beauty (delightfulness) of the Lord (a) To Know His attributes and character (b) To know His goodness and mercy in our lives
(a)To know Gods attributes and character God delivered David from 3 types of fear Fear of adversary (Deliverance & Victory) ii) Fear of abandonment (Acceptance & Identity) iii) Fear of future (Shield & Security) i)
Psalm 27: 5-6 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. 6And now my head shall be[c]lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of[d]joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
BEHOLDING is to BECOMING 2 Corinthians 3:18 18But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as[a]by the Spirit of the Lord.
1 John 3:2 2Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, forwe shall see Him as He is.
Psalm 36:7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
3. To Know Gods Will .......And to inquire in His temple.
1 Samuel 23:1-4 Then they told David, saying, Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are robbing the threshing floors. 2Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and[a]attack these Philistines? And the LORD said to David, Go and attack the Philistines, and save Keilah. 3But David s men said to him, Look, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? 4Then David inquired of the LORD once again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah. For I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.
2 Samuel 5:17-25 17Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.18The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.19So David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said to David, Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand. 20So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water. Therefore he called the name of that place[a]Baal Perazim.21And they left their[b]images there, and David and his men carried them away.
22Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.23Therefore David inquired of the LORD, and He said, You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.24And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the LORD will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines. 25And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba[c]as far as Gezer.
1 Chronicles 15:12-15 12He said to them, You are the heads of the fathers houses of the Levites;[a]sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place I have prepared for it.13For because you did not do it the first time, the LORD our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him[b]about the proper order. 14So the priests and the Levites[c]sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.15And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD.
1 Chronicles 15:13 13It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the LORDour God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.
1 John 2:20 20Butyou have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
Exodus 19:4 4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I[a]bore you on eagles wings and brought you to Myself.
Exodus 34:14 (NLT) 14You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous (passionate) about his relationship with you.
Psalm 51:10-12 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take YourHoly Spirit from me. 12Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Genesis 3:9-10 9Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you? 10So he said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.
