  2. Importance of Literature in Development Literature helps children develop in several ways including: Expanding their language and communication skills Stimulates their imagination and creativity Encourages critical thinking

  3. Duck! Rabbit! The first book I ve chosen is Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld (Books that stretch) This piece of literature challenges the child to look at things from a different perspective, as the visuals present something that can be seen differently from different angles This can encourage them to be more creative and inquisitive

  4. Just How Long Can a Long String Be?! The second book I ve chosen is Just How Long Can a Long String Be?! by Keith Baker (Books that stretch) In this book, the characters talk about all the uses of a piece of string This requires the child to use their imagination to find purposes for the string and helps them to engage in problem solving

  5. Selma The third book I ve chosen is Selma by Jutta Bauer (The Value) This story encourages emotional intelligence by challenging the children to think about what happiness is

  6. Conclusion Each of these pieces of literature challenge children in early childhood differently, but importantly They all stimulate cognitive, social, and emotional development
