Locate specific materials in both the online and face-to- face resources. Distinguish how all of or parts of this curriculum can be implemented in your classes. 4

BRIDGE MODULES OVERVIEW 12 week-long flipped & blended modules Geared towards higher level ABE/ELA students Each module contains 5 subtopics (5 day/week format, adaptable to other schedules) Supplementary materials for optional, self-directed practice Module content can be taught as-is or incorporated into existing curriculum 6

FLIPPED AND BLENDED: Online & Face-to-Face Module: Workplace Rights Subtopic: Fair Wages & Hours eLearning / Pre-work 1 hour Watch, Read & Practice: A Minimum Wage Read, Watch & Practice: Overtime Pay Read & Watch: Paid Sick and Safe Time Practice: Paid Sick and Safe Time Discussion: Wage and Hour Laws Face-to-Face (F2F) 1 hour Chalk talk warm up Wage and Hours Group Research Project Preview Canvas 7

MEETING WIOA REQUIREMENTS Bridge modules include the following elements which meet WIOA requirements: digital literacy employability skills Bridge modules are correlated to the College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards All modules contain reading, listening, speaking, grammar, and writing components Bridge modules can be used with IELCE funded students transitioning to I-BEST 8 8

  15. Active Listening & Note-Taking in the Academic Classroom Helping to improve active listening and note- taking skills that lead to increased students engagement and learning. 15

  16. Active Listening & Note-Taking in the Academic Classroom -Objectives Upon completion of this module, you will be able to: Explain the purpose and benefits of taking class notes. Apply three systematic note-taking methods to generate notes from a spoken presentation. Use common abbreviations and symbols to increase the speed of note-taking. Identify verbal cues and other presentation strategies to distinguish what is important to include in your notes. Monitor comprehension by asking clarifying questions and confirmation questions through active listening. Use Google Docs to collaborate on a shared group document. 16
