Current trends in understanding intercultural competence 1. The key role for professional writing development in modern conditions: intercultural (cross-cultural, multi-age, social, etc.) communication as a condition for success. The complexity of intercultural competencies: not only communication, but also intercultural awareness, sensitivity and understanding of the behavior and minds of others . Combination of linguistic and cultural aspects: the impossibility of reducing the process of formation of intercultural competencies to linguistic and cultural training, the need for reflexive access to research and scientific-philosophical culture (all types and forms of speech activity, including writing) Dynamic concepts of cultures: cultures are viewed not as closed homogeneous entities, but as open systems of rules that mutually build on each other, involve exchange and undergo change. those who are considered different The ability to see your culture from the point of view of a partner culture, using the resources of another culture as tools for your transformation and adaptation in a changing world. 2. 3. 4. 5.
New Literacy and Reading Strategies as a Tool for Developing Intercultural Competence 1) The idea of multiplicity of literacy: reading, arithmetic + new literacy: visual, hypertext, play. 2) Multiple strategies: reading linear text (similar to paper text) and hypertext text (observing greater reader engagement). 3) Blurring the boundaries between people s own (memory capacity, ability to concentrate) and external factors (availability of information resources, ease of reading) success. 4) Complex reading strategies: critical, skimming, differences in texts and hypertexts. Metacognitive learning - awareness of the knowledge they possess and the ability to understand and regulate their cognitive processes, a comprehensive analysis of both educational texts and approaches to learning. 5) Additional strategy: Post-editing hypertexts with links to various information can solve the problem of understanding the correct meaning of a word/term, sentence or paragraph of text in specific contexts. 6) The main factors in the formation of intercultural competencies: cooperation international program (presence of goals, content, specific mode of operation); multiculturalism (maintaining several cultural meanings and practices), virtual environment (use of Internet and AI tools).
