  2. ICE BREAKER WORD ASSOCIATION When I say a word either think or write down the first word that comes to mind. When asked show or tell your word to the rest of the class.

  3. WHAT IS A GOAL? A goal is something we want to achieve, and we set certain steps to reach that goal. Confidence building | 3

  5. WHAT IS A GOAL? We need to accomplish different kinds of tasks throughout the day such as homework and chores. Getting things done makes you feel good about yourself. A goal is an objective you would like to reach. Setting meaningful goals helps your motivation and helps you to get results. Setting a goal is the first step next you must come up with a plan to achieve it. Start by making sure your goal is specific something you can tell whether you have reached it or not.

  6. WHAT IS A GOAL? Put a time there in which you would like to achieve it by. Your goal should challenge you but not be too difficult otherwise you might give up! Break it down into manageable chunks starting with something you can already do and building on that. Remember to focus on what you can control not what is outside of your control. Be realistic in how often you can work on your goal. Celebrate as you complete your smaller steps! Confidence building | 6

  8. SMART GOALS Break down this big goal into smaller more manageable steps. Person A plays the trumpet sometimes but wants to get better so they can play in the school band. Their goal is to try out for the school band in September.

  10. TASK Pick your own goal and write it down on the sheet Swap your sheet with your partner who will check off each step of SMART Finalise your goal with help from your partner Share your goal and use the group feedback to create smaller steps Support your friends in breaking down their goal.

  11. MOTIVATION Motivation is like having a separate energy or drive that pushes you to do something. It makes you feel excited, interested, and determined to achieve a goal.

  12. MOTIVATION MAP EXAMPLE Because I enjoy doing it! To prove to myself I can develop a skill. To prove to myself I can develop a skill. TTO GET BETTER AT PLAYING THE TRUMPET To one day perform a solo in the school performance.

  13. REFLECTING ON OUR PROGRESS Prepare a presentation which you will deliver at the celebration. The presentation should include: What goal you set Your journey so far What motivated you How you feel working towards a goal

  14. REFLECTING ON OUR PROGRESS Now in small groups reflect on how it feels to have worked towards a goal and to celebrate.
