  1. Idahos Developmental Disabilities Network DisAbility Rights Idaho (DRI) Center on Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD) Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD)

  2. Federal Requirements DRI, CDHD and ICDD form the Idaho Developmental Disabilities Network - established under the Developmental Disabilities (DD) Act. The DD Act created the DD Network to meet the diverse needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. The three agencies work together to promote the core values of the DD Act: self-determination, independence, productivity, integration and inclusion in all facets of the community.

  3. Federal Requirements While sharing core values, the three agencies also have their own independent missions. They are required to cooperatively plan and collaborate on at least one goal related to individuals with developmental disabilities. Agencies report on their activities yearly through Program Performance Reports to the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD)

  4. DisAbility Rights Idaho Mission: DisAbility Rights Idaho assists people with disabilities to protect, promote and advance their legal and human rights, through quality legal, individual, and system advocacy. (adopted 1999)

  5. DISABILITY RIGHTS IDAHO DisAbility Rights Idaho Guiding Principles Assists people with disabilities to promote and protect their right to: Meaningful personal choice and self determination. Independence, self-sufficiency and full membership in communities. Independence, self-sufficiency and full membership in communities. Protect their right to inclusive, adapted, accessible services, residences, education and employment Safe and humane practices and environments which are free from abuse and neglect, and which recognize their individuality and dignity

  6. DisAbility Rights Idaho DRI is federally designated Idaho s Protection and Advocacy System (P&A). P&As generally protect personal and civil rights of individuals with disabilities. P&As provide advocacy and legal support to people with disabilities to help them navigate service systems and encourage systems change. The PADD grant is only one of the 8 grants under which DRI operates.

  7. DisAbility Rights Idaho P&A s provide information and referrals, as well as training and technical assistance to state legislators and other policymakers. They also conduct self-advocacy trainings and raise public awareness of legal and social issues affecting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Center on Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD) CDHD located at the University of Idaho is the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) responsible for: Interdisciplinary, pre-service preparation, and continuing education Research, evaluation, and public policy analysis Information dissemination Community services, including direct services, training, technical assistance

Center on Disabilities and Human Development 67 UCEDDs throughout the United States and territories CDHD is part of a national network of UCEDDs through the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) Additional members of the network include: Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Programs (LEND) Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Centers (IDDRC) 1. 2.

Center on Disabilities and Human Development Mission The CDHD advances evidence-based policy and practice for people with disabilities, their families, and communities through exemplary and innovative education, outreach, research, and service. Vision The CDHD is building a future in which everyone, including people with developmental and other disabilities, has a meaningful opportunity to live, learn, work, and play in their communities.

Center on Disabilities and Human Development Guiding Principles People with disabilities and their families have the right to: Live, learn, work, and play in their communities; Be equal partners in research, program development, and the systems change process; Access services that emphasize strengths and abilities; Make decisions, take risks, and define the quality of the life they choose; Be equal partners in building inclusive and interdependent communities.

Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) The Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) is charged with: identifying the most pressing needs of people with developmental disabilities in our state. advancing public policy and systems change that help individuals gain more control over their lives. Providing leadership opportunities for individuals and families.

Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) Mission The Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities promotes the capacity of people with developmental disabilities and their families to determine, access, and direct the services and/or support they need to live the lives they choose, and to build communities ability to support their choices.

  15. Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) Key activities include: conducting outreach, providing training and technical assistance, removing barriers, developing coalitions, encouraging citizen participation, and keeping policymakers informed

DD Network Shared Goal Goal 3: Leaders with intellectual/developmental disabilities are engaged with other people with disabilities and families in a statewide coalition that has a strong, collective voice on policy issues and systems change. Objective 3.2 - By September 2019, establish a statewide, culturally diverse coalition of people with disabilities and families who have been trained and are supported each following year of the plan to advocate at the local and state level on policy issues.

  18. DD Network Shared Activities Shared Activity Meet with DD Network Partners quarterly to review progress and explore additional strategies to strengthen self-advocate leadership in Idaho. Expected Short and Mid-Term Outcomes The Idaho DD Network collaborates on the establishment and ongoing support of the statewide policy coalition including: Core member leadership training Expanding contacts in communities of color Cultural competency training Policy advisor to the coalition Internship opportunities with stipends are available for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to develop advanced leadership skills through mentoring and local/regional coalition activities

Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities Center on Disabilities and Human Development, University of Idaho The Developmental Disabilities Act was established by Congress, written by families impacted by significant disabilities. The Act creates 3 programs, the DD Network each addressing the stated needs of families who authored the law. Disability Rights Idaho
