FAMILY INPUT Sssshh .. What is the difference between FBT and CBTe?
CBTe is an individual, personalised treatment which also involves family members in the support network
Parents and carers - a valuable resource as COACH / GUIDE Development of patient confidence and independence
Knowledge about eating disorder- (eg: mood problems- depression or anxiety can make it harder to manage eating disorder thoughts or behaviours and being underweight makes depression / anxiety worse) Individual characteristic- (eg: I feel anxious and helpless) Family formulation Interpretation of symptoms of eating disorder (eg: - I need to try to solve the problem by reducing anxiety or worsen mood) Reactions to symptoms of eating disorder (Eg: we are asking too much of her to eat expected diet; support exclusion of food groups) Effects on eating disorder (Eg: remain underweight, increased anxiety, fear of certain foods)
Other family members Siblings- ACTIVITIES / NORMALISING RELATIONSHIPS Grandparents- COACH / GUIDE or SUPPORTER FOR THE COACH
