Western Liberal Model of Western Liberal Model of Development Development Can be defined as the market model of development as it advocates opening up of the economies of all states is the only way for development. Not applicable for the developing countries. Denotes political development as the condition for economic development. Gives more weightage to self- interest. Depends on rapid industrialization and technological advancement.
Welfare Model of Development Actsasagencyforsocialchangeanddevelopment. Initiate steps for protecting the interests of the underprivilegedcitizens Accepts and strongly advocates role of state in economic sphere for promoting the socio-economic welfare and commoninterestsofthesociety. Socialist/Marxist Model of Development Views of socialists differ in development goals and means Karl Marx lived during overwhelming majority of people in industrial societies were poor. This was the early period of industrialisation in such nations as England, Germany and the United States. The rural poor were forced or lured into cities where employment was available in the factories and workshops of the new industrial economies. In this way the rural poor were converted into an urban poor. a period when the
Marx tried to understand the institutional framework that produced such conditions and looked for a means to change it in order to improve the human condition. On development of society Marx argues that the entire history of human societies may be seen as the history of class conflict the conflict between those who work for them the exploiters and the exploited.
